Only a little over 2 weeks ago we introduced to you the new feature, auto-matchmaking for ladders, and now we are pleased to say we have another war-finding system in store for you: I present to you Open Challenges!

The days of having to search for your wars on IRC or challenge a large number of clans, hoping that one accepts, are over. With this new feature clans will be able to create an open challenge that anyone can accept, as long as they apply to the restrictions (see below). If you want a game at a certain time why not browse through the list of open challenges and pick a clan that you like the look of and hay presto, you have found an opponent and a confirmed challenge.

But how can we make sure we aren’t playing the team at the bottom of the league when we are top?

That is simple: we have built in a number of options that you can pick from that allow you to dictate who can accept your challenges. You have the following options: The date(s) (3 available) you want to play Your level, and the maps you are willing to play, which the opponent will choose from Max/Min rating above and below you - i.e. how far apart the two clans are, measured in points. So you could choose to play anyone as long as they are above you, or anyone as long as they are within 100 points either side of you. Min. Judge rating - this allows you to make sure clans with bad reputations don’t accept your challenge, as you can see what the minimum rating they must have New clans - you can choose to not play against new clans that have just joined the ladder You can leave notes for the clans, such as a possible place they could find you to tell you the game is confirmed, etc., but remember that challenge notes are not rules. All these things will allow you, the user, to make matches that tailor your exact needs, and then not have to go through the hassle of finding someone: they will find you.

Would you rather look through who you are playing first? Then why not just browse the open challenges. The system will not show you any matches that you aren’t able to accept unless you tell it to. Once you have found your perfect opponent, then all you need to do is accept, and off you go to the server with everything done.

You can find the challenge pages either from your clan home page, under the tab “Challenges”, or on the ladders themselves on the right hand side, titled “Open Challenges”.
