ClanBase presents: NationsCup season XI

Today we present to you the 11th season of the ClanBase NationsCups, which will feature 23 NationsCups over 16 games. This is the first time that our prestigious NationsCup has been scheduled to begin in the cold winter months of January, after the christmas holidays between our OpenCup and EuroCup season. Now this cup will only be held once a year, making it even more special. This year we will not let you down.

National captains

Starting today, anyone who wants to become his/her country’s national captain for one of the Nations Cups can apply for that job by doing the following: Make sure you have substantial support from your country’s top clans and top players. Mail the supervisor of your Nations Cup (use the email(s) linked below the menu on each cup page!) with the following information: The subject must be “NC XI: [country] captain”, e.g. “NC XI: Netherlands captain” Start the email with your nickname, your clan name, your pid and your hid (the numbers on your player profile) on ClanBase. If your country has shaky internet connections: provide details of international online matches recently played by your local players/clans to demonstrate that you can field a competitive national team. If you only want to be captain if there are no other candidates (to make sure your country gets to participate), say so right away.

No individual or organisation can appoint him/her/itself, and last season’s captains have to apply again, so everyone who wants to be captain has to apply. The deadline for applying is Sunday, January 6th - 3 weeks is more than enough time to signup!

The supervisors will then decide on the countries that can participate in their NationsCup. If there was only one suitable candidate to be a country’s captain, he/she will be appointed right away. If there was no suitable candidate, the supervisors will look for someone or leave out the country. If there are several suitable candidates, the supervisors will post their names and the following selection procedure begins: All candidates have to gather as much support as they can from their country’s top clans (i.e. clans from which players for the national team are likely to be recruited) and from top players playing for foreign or international clans. Copy/paste the lines in irc where they confirm that they support your candidacy.
The candidates must mail the supervisors the same information as in the original application, plus the list of top clans / top players that support them including the IRC log that confirm this.

Some of the captains will have to get to work immediately as the supervisors will also announce the qualifiers that have to be played.

National team Managers

This season is blessed with a lot of holiday spirit, but also with some new features! We introduce to you the task of a National Team Manager. As you may have seen the passed few weeks, we’ve been busy with recruiting a person for almost each nation. This person will be in charge of the National Team - in many aspects; From adding the captains to the national cid onto monitoring the cups and doing his out most to make his team both successful and organised. You can see who is your own National Team Manager in here.

We will use only 1 clan for each nation this season. If you are elected as team captain - contact your team Manager to be added to the national clan.

Qualifiers

Qualifiers have to be scheduled and played between a date to be determined by the supervisor, unless both captains agree to play sooner.

The first match week will start on January 21st, and the playoffs will commence 3 or 5 weeks later.

Countries, clans and playersOnly countries with stable ping to European servers can participate; slaughtering modemers or high-pingers isn’t fun for anyone, so only countries with an internet infrastructure that allows local players to be internationally competitive can play in the Nations Cup. Countries outside Europe may only be permitted after a strict rules set up between the Chief NC’s, the supervisors and the interested teams. Players must have the nationality of the country they are playing for. Players of a different nationality who have been living in that country for more than 1 year are also allowed to play, but never more than one at the same time. No player can play for more than one team during the same season.
The captains have to add their players to the team on ClanBase before they are allowed to play. There is no limit to the number of players per team, and players can be added to and removed from the team at any time during the season.
The captains decide which players play the matches. They can also play themselves.
A national team may never have more than [2 or 3 depending on the game] members of the same active [insert game/mod] clan playing at the same time. National captains are expected to know the full clan history of any player they wish to field; not knowing it will not be an excuse to break this rule. If any doubt is possible about the membership of a certain player in a certain clan (e.g. because of a try-out) then the captain must always get permission from the supervisor before using that player. There is no limit on how many members of the same clan can be registered with a national team.” Coverage
