Update:The Synergy team have sent word that due to a misunderstanding, (OB) will in fact NOT be released on Friday. Stay tuned for a revised release date when it’s decided on.

Hot on the heels of the release of the most recent version of Obsidian Conflict, the Synergy team have announced that their long-awaited Orange Box Edition will be released this Friday (15th). The focus of the new release is to enable coop from the beginning of Half-Life 2 all the way to the end of Episode 2, and to overhaul the mod to meet the demands of players. Here are some of the major changes coming in Synergy (OB):

Third-Party Game and Mod Support
Complete Level Transitions
Multi-Passenger, Destructible Vehicles
Player Speech System
MapEdit Configuration System
Multi-Language Support (German, French, Dutch, …)

In the run up to the release, the documentation for the mod is being updated, and the old forums are being taken down and replaced. Clearly this isn’t the end of the line for Synergy though - they’re still looking for fresh talent to help with creating models, levels, and textures, and they still want your donations if you’re feeling generous.
