Latest UT3 news

After the release of the beta demo, a lot of news has surfaced around the net. Here you can find it all in one post.
For you who can’t read enough about the game, Planet Unreal has posted their impressions of the demo. Voodoo Extreme and GameSpot both have been at Epic and written up a hands-on preview. In the GameSpot preview you can also find a video interview of Jim Brown, Steve Polge and Jeff Morris. They say they have about 40 maps ready for the retail version, that the PC-version is still targeted for November, the PS3-version is for December and the Xbox 360 sometime in 2008.

If you’re thinking of buying a new computer, GameSpot has written a very nice article where you can compare the world detail and texture detail settings on the fly. Also there is a small benchmark at the end. AMDZone compares different graphics card in a benchmark of the demo.

The Inquirer has had a small talk with Unreal Engine guru Tim Sweeney of what graphics card you should go for when wanting to play Unreal Tournament 3 and Gears of War. PC Perspective have a more in-depth article with benchmarks of every map in the demo, also a nice read.

Many who have played the demo are certainly disappointed by the terrible server browser. Mark Rein states that the browser is definitely not ready yet and is just in beta stage in the demo.

BeyondUnreal posted news about hidden stuff that you can summon in the demo. You can summon some vehicles that you can’t access otherwise as well as the translocator (they won’t have any sound though).

Lastly, according to Planet Unreal, Mark Rein has declined the rumours about the Xbox 360-version having been cancelled:

Absolutely untrue! 360 version still coming in 2008.
