Some more Grand Theft Auto IV news from Rockstar at The PlayStation Holiday Preview Event in Canada.

Fans of the GTA games from the PS2 and Xbox will know that there was no online game-mode, but more recently on the PSP, there has been a deathmatch mode that was playable through wi-fi. Well, that could all be about to change.

Rockstar have apparently said that they hope to implement a 16 player online mode for the next instalment of the GTA series, which would be a first for the console versions of the series.

Apparently, Rockstar have also been toying with the idea of having the entire game world unlocked from the beginning, but that would of course go against the GTA tradition of unlocking the new cities as you progress through the single player campaign.

Both bits of information were apparently revealed when Rockstar were showcasing Manhunt 2 to Canadian punters.

These latest rumours are yet to be confirmed or denied by Rockstar who hope to have GTA IV released in the first quarter of next year.
